The benefits and services of affiliation to Canoe England fall into two categories:
Firstly, there are items with a recognisable money value such as third party insurance.
Secondly, there are services provided by the BCU from which not only members but also non-members benefit. These are paid for by those who join or affiliate.
At national and regional level the BCU make representations to and negotiates with the important outside organisations such as, Sport England, UK Sport, The Environment Agency, The Countryside Agency, Canal and River Trust, English Nature and local authorities to name but a few! It is very important that clubs are affiliated so that they are plugged into the communication network enabling them to have their own views heard and be part of the action, especially at local level.
Local Canoeing information is included in regional club newsletters, which go to affiliated Clubs and it, is really important that there is two way communication between the BCU regions and their affiliated Clubs.
The more we get our act together the quicker progress Canoeing stands to make.
