The Canoe England recommended boat insurance scheme
If you're looking to take out canoe or kayak insurance - look no further! This cover, available exclusively to members of Canoe England is great value and most certainly the easiest to buy as it can be done at the time of taking out or renewing your Canoe England membership.
You can choose from two levels of cover, depending on whether you wish to cover an individual craft or up to three. If the policy is for an individual craft, the premium is based on its value.
Your policy runs from when you purchase the insurance until the day your membership expires - so the ideal time to purchase the insurance is at the time of renewing your membership.

FAQs
Q. My BCU membership covers me for third party liability insurance when I am using my canoe. What is the situation if my brother is paddling as he is not a member?
A. To provide for the eventuality of a non BCU member paddling a member's canoe, the Canoe England Canoe and Kayak insurance has a contingency cover that will cover a non member's third party liability up to £3,000,000.
Q. Will my canoe be covered for theft?
A. Yes, providing it was from a locked building, securely locked to an immovable object, securly locked to the roof of a motor vehicle, or if it is with its trailer, unless the trailer is secured by a hitch lock or in the case of a 'mu;ti' canoe trailer, a wheel clamp.
Q. There is no mention of "white water" use in the policy, does this mean I cannot kayak in white water?
A. The BCU has consulted with its insurance advisors and it was decided to remove references to white water as it is difficult to define. Therefore there are no restrictions on the types of class of water you kayak in.
Q. Are competitions covered?
A. Yes, there are no restrictions on use.
Q. I am covered on holiday?
A. Covers up to 30 days in Europe at any one time.
Q. What types of canoeing are covered?
A. All canoeing activities are covered, including competition.
