Coasteering Update

The steering group and industry with other interested bodies met up on the 4 November in Bristol to go through the proposed plan and to vote on whether a charter was needed and would be supported. Much was debated on progression, value, support, regulation and qualifications.

The Charter was unanimously voted in favour and agreed that there was not at present the need for a governing body or a specific coasteering qualification. People will be asked to self regulate their delivery, but fit in with the minimum requirements of the Charter and keep informed of any developments through the Charter group and via regional meetings. Regional representative have been appointed initially to organise the first regional meets and then re-vote locally. First meetings have now taken place and reps are listed below.

There will now be the development of an official National Coasteering Charter website, a constitution and a plan for growth and support for the industry.

If you require any further information please contact the Chair, Secretary, or your regional rep. as listed in the PDF.
