Many of us tend to dismiss the Equality Monitoring section of a form or application, but the data gathered from them can really help organisations, like Canoe England, in a variety of ways.
So why do we collect this information? It is very rare that this information will be used in conjunction with your membership details, in fact, this information is confidential so it cannot be shared with other organisations. It is in fact used to produce statistics that allow us to analyse who is taking part in Paddlesport all over the country.
Once armed with these figures we can identify where projects are working particularly well or where we need to support development. The information helps us identify what particular strand we need to develop including resources and workforce.
More importantly, our funding is directly linked to these statistics. We use these statistics to show that the work we are doing is having impact. Without this information we cannot show Sport England that we are achieving our agreed objectives. Reaching or not reaching these objectives can have a dramatic effect on funding.
