Advice for Members
Canoe England recognises that whilst canoeing may not have an environmental impact the actions of the Canoeist may have an impact on the environment, and acknowledges responsibility to take reasonable measures to safeguard the environment for both the present and future generations.
Canoe England will provide advice on environmental issues through its policies and programmes in order to support its members.
You, Your Canoe and the Environment
Canoeists and kayakers take very seriously environmental concerns and already follow existing voluntary environmental codes of conduct, including Canoe England’s own guidance notes outlined in the “You your canoe and the environment” publication. (link to the A& E section where You and yours is)
Alien Species
Alien species refers to plants, animals and other organisms that are not native to our waters and have been introduced unknowingly to local environments.
The spread of alien species is becoming a major issue in both marine and inland waters around the world because they compete with native plants and wildlife and can cause major changes to waterways. Canoe England will provide help and advice on how to prevent the introduction of such species.

ii, Pollution Reporting
Canoe England encourages all canoeists as they are out on the waterways all year round to be the eyes and ears on the water and report pollution, wildlife problems, damage, incidents etc to the relevant authorities.
