Access - Rivers and Coastal information Service
A team of voluntary, Regional Access Advisers (RAA’s), Local River Advisors (LRA’s) and Coastal Advisors (CA) can provide general information and the access situation for many waterways and sections of coastline in England. They do not give permission for access but can advise if there have been objections to paddling. Having obtained this information it rests with the individual(s) to decide if the water is suitable to paddle.
There are also a limited number of agreements in place where Canoe England has negotiated access. Conditions of use vary and the LRA or CA should be contacted for current details.
See the Rivers Information Service for details of LRAs
Please bear in mind that Rivers and Coastal Information Service representatives are volunteers - contact them well in advance wherever possible. When phoning, make sure the hour is sociable; the majority are in full time work and will not be available throughout the day.
If you feel that you may be able to contribute to the Canoe England Access Volunteer network, please contact [email protected] giving your name address and telephone number.
