Canoe England Capital Grants Programme funding stream of over £2,400,000 announced
Canoe England is pleased to announce a new funding programme to support club facility development and improvements. The programme is the result of a successful funding submission to Sport England to support and and increase community sport.
The new scheme will be known as the Canoe England Capital Grants Programme and a total of £2,400,000 is available from 2009 - 2013. The funding is for capital building projects and there are two funding categories that clubs can apply for:
1. Small grants
£10,000 to £100,000 - these will typically target improvements to existing facilities, such as changing rooms and showers, boat stoarge etc (pease note this cannot be used for equipment).
2. Large grants
£100,000 and upwards - for facility redevelopment.
There is a third category for Equipment Grants which will be for boats in the community, click here for more information.
The main conditions for both small and large grants are: -
1. A robust sustainable project showing contributions to "Grow, Sustain and/or Excel";
2. Planning permission and any other consents granted (or not required);
3. Long term security of tenure or ownership;
4. Significant partnership funding;
5. Canoe England club accreditation or working towards it;
6. A robust business case showing that the money can be spent within the year that it is allocated (if not, the funding will be lost).
Clubs that are interested in being considered for receiving this grant assistance are asked to complete in the first instance an Expression of Interest form. Any Canoe England club may apply for this new round of funding including those who have received CCDP or other funding in the past.
The procedure that Canoe England will follow will be very similar to that pof the previous funding stream, the Community Club Development Programme (CCDP). However, funding in the new programme is agreed annually and must be spent in the year of the award.
The Expression of Interest forms can be returned at any time but all projects for spending between April 2011 and March 2012 must be received by June 30th 2010.
Each Expression of Interest will be assessed by the Canoe England Captial Grants panel and successful applicants will be then invited to the next stage of the process.
