Can't Get CCDP Funding?
CCDP funding isn’t right for everyone – you might not fit the criteria or the timing may be wrong. However there are other government grants that could be applied for using a similar strategy.
One such project was the Brownhills/Walsall Canoe Club building that opened in June 2006.
This impressive, canal-side facility was funded by British waterways and The European Development fund and Sport England LOTTERY money (not CCDP).
The BCU helped with the design and other advice and it has proved to be an extremely popular venue.
Brownhills is an excellent example of what can be done when everyone gets together and applies CCDP criteria to a facility that followed CCDP except for the funding sources.
Sport England lottery funding is still with us and does come in as a larger funding share instead of CCDP for some of the larger projects and this avenue could be successful if CCDP funding isn’t quite right.
