This is an aesthetic discipline, exhilarating to participate in and spectacular to watch. Competitions are judged in terms of wave selection, manoeuvres, style, judgement and skill. The main canoe surfing areas in England lie on the North East Coast and the coasts of the South West peninsula, particularly North Devon and Cornwall. Here the wind action on the sea and the shape of the beaches provides good surf.
