The rapids at Symonds Yat on the River Wye have been changed during 2008.
The changes involve the installation of groins from each bank of the channel.
They became necessary in order to arrest bank and island erosion.
The rapids are not suitable for novices or those without prior experience.
If in any doubt inspect from the river bank before proceeding by river.
Or portage if in doubt.
