FAQs

As you should now be aware the BCU is modernising its coaching qualifications and education programmes in line with the UKCC Coaching Certificate (UKCC) developments.

While work continues on the detail of the learning programme outline to be mapped to the UKCC we are also required to modernise our Coach Educator Scheme to ensure that this also meets the UKCC endorsement criteria.

This modernisation will require varying amounts of re-training for existing coaches as well as require a new perspective for new coaches entering the scheme.

Hopefully the documents below;

1.The BCU UKCC Coach Educator Scheme
2. Preparing the first wave of BCU UKCC Coach Educators

will, collectively, provide you with an opportunity to get up to speed on the system, begin to appreciate the changes as they will effect you and, should you wish, apply for consideration for re-training.

Further to this we have also planned a number of Assessor forums so that we can more fully explain the system and confirm the role out and phasing of the required re-training. See the forum info and booking form below.

When reading the info, I would draw your attention to the fact that document 1 - The BCU UKCC Coach Educator Scheme provides details of the new scheme from the point of view of someone entering from square one. Even if you are an existing assessor it is worth reading this first to help you gain a clear overview of the scheme.

Doc 2 - Preparing the first wave of BCU UKCC Coach Educators provides details as to how and what an existing assessor may need to do to re-train to the new scheme.

From this you will note that the scheme will require you to review your situation and that it will require you to complete aspects of re-training.

The training will be phased as highlighted in the document. This is simply to ensure that we will have the required Combination of Course Directors and Coach Tutors available for the phase in of the new scheme.

Should you need more info – Please remember that Assessor Forums are to follow . These will be focused on clarifying all aspects of the new Coach Educator scheme. These are not compulsory but should be a good opportunity to make sure you are clear on the changes and of course ask any questions you may have about the wider changes to the coach education system.
